Anuj Kumar joined Department of Energy Efficiency, CSIR-Central Building Research Institute Roorkee on March 2016 as a Ramanujan Fellow and Assistant Professor (SG) (AcSIR Faculty).
He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Physics (Electronics) from MJP Rohilkhand University Bareilly, India in 1996 and 1998, respectively. He received his M. Phil. degree in Instrumentation from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India in 2000, M. Tech. degree in Instrumentation from the National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra, India in 2004, and Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India in 2011.
He worked as a Research Associate in Instrument Design and Development Center (IDDC), Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India from May 2011–Dec. 2011. Subsequently, he joined as an Assistant Professor in Electronic and Communication Engineering Department, Amity University Noida, India from Jan. 2012-Oct. 2012 and also during this period, he was associated with Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, University of Seoul, Seoul, Korea as a visiting Post-doctoral Fellow.
He was a Vice-Chancellor Postdoctoral Fellow at Advanced Sensor Network (ASN) group, Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering Department, University of Pretoria, RSA from Nov. 2012-Dec. 2014. Subsequently, he joined as a Research Fellow at Electrical Machines and Drives Laboratory, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, National University of Singapore (NUS, Singapore), Singapore from March 2015–Dec. 2015.
From Sep. 2000–June 2002, he was an Instrumentation Engineer in APL Intelligent Embedded, New Delhi, India. He was involved in development of microcontroller-based hardware development applications. From Oct. 2004–Dec. 2005, he was an Instrumentation Engineer–EDA in Dell Soft Technologies, New Delhi, India.
He has authored one book, three book chapters, and published more than 80 papers in international refereed journals and conferences. He has 2 copy rights and 3 Patent filed in last three years. His research interests include intelligent systems, smart sensor/actuator, wireless sensor actuators networks, internet of things (IOT), instrumentation electronics, instrumentation & measurement, sensor based system, environment monitoring, smart buildings, smart grid, microprocessor based applications/systems, pollution measurement for industry and buildings, industrial automation, and health monitoring. Dr. Kumar has carried out extensive research in smart building areas of the development of hardware and software for experimental prototypes.
He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access Journal. He is a reviewer of IEEE Transactions, Elsevier, and Springer Journals. Dr. Kumar is a Senior Member of the IEEE Societies of IES, Sensors, and Instrumentation & Measurement.
He is a recipient of the Ramanujan Fellow award in Engineering Sciences in 2015. Dr. Kumar also received the IEEE Sensors Council President most downloaded Research Paper award in 2014, 2015 & 2016.
Dr. Kumar has been listed in Marquis “who’s who in the World” listed in 2013 and Marquis “who’s who in the America” listed in 2015.
He is engaged with a number of large-scale regional and international research projects (approximately funding 360 Lakhs INR); among others he is currently leading a smart buildings and multi-agent system projects.
Beyond his academic contributions, Kumar serves as an industrial & Institutional consultant for business Enterprises or new setup of the Institute or university.
